Interview Summary
Bruce Carver graduated from Hopkinsville High School in 1965 and enrolled in summer classes at Kentucky Wesleyan before enrolling at Hopkinsville Community College in the fall of that year where he was elected the first student government president. He transferred to the University of Kentucky in the fall of 1966, transferred to the University of Hawaii for his junior year where he was president of the Young Republicans, and transferred back to U.K. for his senior year and graduated with a degree in History in 1969. While at U.K. he was involved in Student Government and the Young Republicans. After graduating he was a residence hall manager while he worked toward earning a teaching certificate. He was drafted in 1970 and spent a year in the U.S. Air Force while stationed in Vietnam. In this interviewhe discusses his family history and his childhood.Interview Accession
