Interview Summary

Dr. Milica "Mimi" Kirovska is a host-country-national Peace Corps staff member from North Macedonia. She has been a medical officer for 16 years for North Macedonia and for the last few years with Kosovo as well. She talks about the short but incredibly intense time between late February 2020 and the middle of March 2020 when the volunteers were evacuated due to COVID-19. During that time, the office was in constant contact with the main office in Washington, D.C., and everyone was working together to manage the crisis. She speaks of her feelings during that time, of her pride in the job she and others were doing, the concern she might bring COVID home, and the flexibility needed to meet the immense challenges.
