Interview Summary

Victoria Butler talks about her experience as the first black female master whiskey blender and recipient of the Master Blender of the Year award for two consecutive years. She describes her background and her family while going into depth about Nearest Green, her great-grandfather, who taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. She talks about her law enforcement background, the career decisions she made within her field, and how her university experience impacted her for the rest of her life. She then goes on to explain how she became master blender for Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey and the ways she learned to blend whiskey. She then concludes by highlighting the Nearest Green Foundation, which she is the Director of Administration of, that has paid for the descendants of Nearest Green to attend college.
