Interview Summary

McGrath talks about originally wanting to go to Africa but being sent to Afghanistan. She talks about graduating college and being invited to head to training in Arizona for public health. She talks about the reasoning behind the all female cohort of vaccinators due to cultural beliefs in Afghanistan. She talks about the nomadic nature of her vaccination trips from village to village with some evaluation later on. She discusses daily life, food, social life and recreation in Afghanistan. She discusses gender dynamics, host country nationals, difficult times in Afghanistan, and the start of warfare in the 1970s. She discusses how Peace Corps impacted her life.
