Summary: 

An unsuccessful candidate for Congress, Mr. Wallace recounts his family history, his involvement in Lexington politics, and his attempts to achieve seats in Congress and on the City Council. He examines the relationships between white and African American politicians, the support received from the white community, and the job performances of African Americans elected to public office in Lexington. He recalls the publishing of an African American newspaper in Lexington with a circulation base of 3,000 and the establishment and demise of African American radio station WLAP.
